Paul McCartney is a fan and collector of paintings by Rene Magritte, the famous belgian surrealist. Magritte has been probably the single most influence on most modern illustrators today, including Norman Rockwell and Christopher Peterson. In fact, one of Magritte's paintings became the inspiration for the Apple Records logo.
